Good morning, investors!

Today’s newsletter is a little different than usual. Instead of digging into financial statements, exploring recent stock trends, and listening to me babble, we’re highlighting another financial newsletter in the Substack sphere: Doomberg.

I’ve been a subscriber for a few months now, and I wholeheartedly recommend their content if your inbox can spare the space.

Before we take a look, one administrative note: if you received a double email last Friday, I apologize — the Substack platform glitched.

A recent update triggered duplicate emails for a subset of writers' email lists. We apologize for the inconvenience to you and your readers. We're on it, and we'll make sure it does not happen again.

Here’s their latest, as well as a couple of editions I particularly enjoyed.

Farmers on the Brink
“Farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil and you're a thousand miles from the corn field.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower It was a spooky time to be out at sea off the US East Coast on Halloween in 1991. A strong storm system over the maritime provinces in Canada merged with the remnants of Hurricane Grace, forming a new, epic, and dangerous Nor’eas…

In Praise of Corn Ethanol
“The magician and the politician have much in common: they both have to draw our attention away from what they are really doing.” – Ben Okri Etymology teaches us much about history. Take the word plumbing, which is derived from the Latin word plumbum…
